Evelyn A. (DiBenedetto) Marani, “Ava”, 95, of Wareham, passed away peacefully at home in Wareham on Monday, December 23, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Louis J. “Babe” Marani who passed away in 2005. Mrs. Marani was born in Quincy, the daughter of the late Donato and Maria (DeAngelo) DiBenedetto.

“Ava” (as she was known to her friends) was a loving mother, nana and great-nana to all of her family. She enjoyed cooking and making delicious pastries for anyone who visited, especially when they had their weekly card games. She also enjoyed visiting the local casinos and Atlantic City. She was a beloved member of the Agawam Lake Improvement Association for many years and always loved meeting all the members at the local affairs at the Hall.

She is survived by her children; Louis Marani, Jr. and his wife Dianne of Braintree, William Marani and Robin of Plymouth, Evelyn L'Homme of Wareham, Jean Brasher and her husband Derik of Florida, and Kathleen McFadden and her husband Jimmy, also of Florida.  She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her wonderful smile.

She was the grandmother of the late Danny Marani and sister of the late Grace Stuart, Ida Carlino,  Lucy Nickerson, Jeanna Montague, Violet Corvi and her brothers, Vincent and Danny DiBenedetto. 

A private committal service was held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on December 27, 2019. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date to be announced.
