Aug 2, 2019

Elizabeth “Bubs” Campinha, 88,  died peacefully, surrounded by family, Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. She was the wife of the late Jesse “BoBoy” Campinha for sixty-four years.

Born in Cataumet, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Virginia (Roderick) Fernandes. She moved to Wareham in 1954 as a homemaker and loving caregiver, and she soon became known as one of the fastest seasonal shuckers in the area by the local fishermen.

Mrs. Campinha served on the church board of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Wareham where she was a devoted member.  All though she loved all aspects of church life, she had a special place in her heart for the Nazarene missions.

Mrs. Campinha enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles, and the Red Sox. She will be remembered for her knitting, especially the sweaters her family. Her greatest joys were found in her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four sons; Kerry, Guy, Joel and Shawn Campinha all of Wareham; six daughters, Patricia Smith of Queens, NY, Victoria Rose of Marion, Susan Campinha Beck, Pamela McIsaac and Jamie Campinha-Horner all of Wareham and Tammy Campinha of Sumter, SC; her brother, Anthony Fernandes of Cataumet; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Jesse Campinha, Jr. and the sibling to the late Pearl Almeida, Eleanor Correia, Peter Fernandes, Jr., Marie Rose, Dreena Jacobs, and Manuel Fernandes.

Visiting hours are from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, Rogers Ave., E. Wareham followed by a funeral service at 12:00 Noon.  Burial and committal prayers will follow at the Center Cemetery, Wareham.
