Edith T. (Teixeira) Canto, 100, of Taunton, died Dec. 1 in Morton Hospital, Taunton. She was the daughter of the late Fortunato and Josepha B. (Neves) Teixeira.

She was born in Marion and lived in Boston and Wareham for many years before moving to Taunton.

Mrs. Canto worked as a Dietitian for Boston City Hospital for many years before retiring.

She enjoyed reading, watching movies and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her son, Stephen P. Canto, Sr. and his wife Jacqueline of Norton; 5 grandchildren, Stephen P. Canto, Jr., Stacey Canto, Regina Thompson, Renee Canto and Maj. Keyia Carlton, U.S. Army; 8 great grandchildren, Allesha Groom, Stephen P. Canto, III, Olivia Wilson, Maya Thompson, Quincy Thompson, Braley Canto, Keegan Canto and Deshawn Carlton; 3 great grandchildren, Marley, Hunter and Piercen; several nephews and nieces.
