East Wareham man arrested twice in two days

Feb 20, 2019

An East Wareham man arrested for shoplifting on Feb. 14 was arrested again on Feb. 15 for disorderly conduct that reportedly took place at the Water’s Edge Trailer Park.

Eric Bedard, 40, was first reported as shoplifter from Stop and Shop at 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. Employees told police that Bedard had fled the store and was last seen heading toward the Liquor Locker.

Officer Michael Phinney reportedly found Bedard in the liquor store and the stolen groceries outside next to the building. The bag of groceries allegedly contained over $75 worth of items.

Phinney then arrested Bedard, who reportedly attempted to escape from the cruiser by kicking at the rear door and protective bars.

When told he would face additional charges by Officer Blaise Lalli, Bedard allegedly stopped kicking and began to berate the officers for not dealing with more serious crimes in town.

Police said they encountered Bedard again on Feb. 15 while responding to a disturbance at the Water’s Edge Trailer Park.

According to reports, this was the second time in less than an hour that officers had responded to the area for a disturbance caused by Bedard.

Upon arrival, Officers Nate Aronson and Ryan Turner reportedly attempted to talk to Bedard, who had been given a verbal warning earlier.

Bedard reportedly accused officers of harassing him and resisted arrest in a “violent manner” by waving his arms. No officers were injured.
