May 25, 2021

Three students have received Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarships.

Dr. Gleason, a Wareham physician who served the community for over 38 years, passed away in February 2020 after a brief illness. A memorial scholarship was established to help students pursue careers in the field of medicine.

Mollie Johnson, who has completed her first year at the University of Maine at Orono, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Johnson, a 2020 Wareham High graduate, is studying nursing.

Brook Chandler, who will graduate from Wareham High this spring, was awarded a $500 scholarship. Chandler will be studying biology at Smith College this fall, and plans to work in the field of pediatric medicine.

Amanda Johnson, another 2021 Wareham High grad, also received a $500 scholarship. Johnson plans to study athletic training at her top choice school, Merrimack College, with the goal of working in sports medicine with competitive athletes.
