Doc McStuffins comes to town

Feb 22, 2020

On Saturday, Doc McStuffins, a veterinarian for stuffed animals and star of a Disney Channel show, visited Best Friends Preschool to meet excited fans. Doc awarded the youngsters certificates, and gave them play hospital bracelets.

The event was one of several free events that the school, located at 237 Sandwich Rd., hosts for the public throughout the year.

In other areas of the school, kids could color oversized bandaids to use on themselves or stuffed animals, enjoy a snack, or get their faces painted.

Event coordinator and assistant director K-leigh Crippin said that the events are always free and open to everyone, in part because many activities for families are expensive.

Each year, the school, which cares for infants through school-aged children, hosts a carnival in the fall and an enchanted village event in winter. In addition to Doc McStuffins, Dr. Seuss and Pete the Cat also make yearly visits to the school. Each event includes a craft and a snack, along with other activities.

Wareham Firefighter Dana Lofgren also attended the event to help caretakers properly install car seats, which can be a little confusing. Lofgren also helps caretakers make sure that the seat they have is the correct size for their child.

Lofgren is available to help parents with car seats at the Wareham Fire Department. For help, call the fire department’s non-emergency line, (508) 295-2973, and ask for Firefighter Lofgren.
