Dispensary shoppers steady despite pandemic

Mar 21, 2020

As Wareham residents stock up on necessities and prepare to spend more time at home, some have noticed a long line of customers waiting outside Verilife, the marijuana retailer on Main Street.

Although some customers might be there to stock up, Verilife Executive Director Shelley Stormo said that there hasn’t really been a significant increase in the number of customers visiting the dispensary.

The long line outside is actually due to social distancing. Staff are attempting to keep a six foot space between customers in line both inside and outside the store, which, of course, makes that line longer.
Additionally, not all registers are staffed to allow for sufficient space between staffers. Fewer open registers mean that it takes longer for the dispensary to serve customers.
Verilife is closing an hour earlier than usual in the evenings and will be closed on Wednesdays. The rest of the week, the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Stormo is encouraging medical patients to use the home delivery option, which is now available all six days the dispensary is open. Interested patients can call 888-493-6066 to see if they are within Verilife’s delivery area.

Adult use customers can also help speed things up at the dispensary by placing their order online through Leafly at www.verilife.com. Verilife staff will pack customers’ orders and send a text when the order is ready for the customer to pick up and pay for at the dispensary.

Like many businesses, Verilife staff have been taking extra precautions and spending more time cleaning.

Employees are told to stay home if they are not feeling well, and the dispensary asks customers to stay away when they are sick.
