Derek J. Gomes, 56, of West Wareham died August 20, 2019 in Tobey Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Elizabeth A. Chadwick Gomes.

He was born in Wareham and lived there all of his life.

He loved his family and enjoyed cooking and listening to music.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth A. Chadwick Gomes of West Wareham; his father, Joseph Gomes of New Bedford; his mother, Dorothea Gomes of Danbury, CT; 5 daughters, Mandy Hoell of Hudson, Courtney Pires of Buzzards Bay, Brianna Pires of Onset, Dericka Gomes of Quincy and Olivia Chadwick Gomes of West Wareham;  his son, Jordan Silvia of SC; 3 brothers, Joseph “Mikie” Gomes of Buzzards Bay, Alan Gomes and Philip Gomes both of Wareham.; a sister, Joanna Cross of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Otto, Charlotte, Naia, Lillyanna, Isla, Cibella, and Anthony. 

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

His funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019 from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
