A dedication ceremony in honor of the late Robert (Bob) ‘Grumpy’ Conway will take place on Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. at the perennial stream recently named Grumpys Brook. Grumpys Brook is located on the Cole Property Conservation Land, and can most easily be accessed by entering the Cole Property from Pleasant Street, at the Carver and Plympton town line.

A commemorative sign and bench at Grumpys Brook will be the focus of the dedication ceremony. Conway was a local conservationist, photographer, bog foreman and member of the Carver Conservation Commission. He discovered the source of Grumpys Brook on the Cole Property. The brook is one of the headwaters of the Winnetux River that is itself one of the headwaters of the Taunton River.

‘Grumpy’ was originally from Wareham, but was a long-time Carver resident when he passed away in 2010.

Although the ceremony will be outdoors, organizers are requiring mask wearing and social distancing out of an abundance of caution.
