Coronavirus cases in Wareham have continued to increase, as the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported that the town had a total of 200 cases as of Wednesday, May 27.

This marks a small increase from last week, when the state reported 191 cases in Wareham.

When adjusted for population, Wareham’s rate of coronavirus infection is 835 positive cases per 100,000 people.  This is lower than the state as a whole, which has a rate of 1,352 cases per 100,000 people.

As of May 27, the state reported that 1,598 people had been tested for coronavirus in Wareham, with 12.5% of the test results being positive.

As of May 26, there were 20 patients being treated for the coronavirus in Tobey Hospital, four of whom were in the Intensive Care Unit.

The state report also lists all long term care facilities with two or more cases of coronavirus. It uses ranges for the number of cases and deaths at each facility, rather than an exact count.

In Wareham, the Tremont Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center was listed as having more than 30 cases, and less than five deaths. According to Tim Brown, the Director of Marketing and Communications of Athena Health Care Systems, out of all the coronavirus cases at the Tremont Center, 51 had recovered, and 11 people at Tremont were currently positive as of May 28.

Wareham Healthcare had between two and ten cases, and zero deaths according to state data.
