Christmas in the Parks a gift to the entire community

Dec 15, 2019

Holiday cheer filled the streets of Onset on Saturday during the annual Christmas in the Parks.

Kids and families decorated cookies, wrote letters to Santa, bought gifts, listened to carols and took advantage of an endless supply of hot chocolate during the event that has become a tradition in Onset.

Hosted by the Onset Bay Association, the event enticed visitors with 17 different Christmas activities. This year, the Association added four more stations, including Trecors Art Gallery, where grown-ups could help themselves to holiday treats while enjoying live music by Linda Calisa from GQ and the Lady.

After more than 20 years, the Christma in the Park is one of Onset’s longest-running events.

“It’s good, clean family fun. It’s nice to get people walking around the village this time of year,” said the Onset Bay Association's President Kat Jones. “There is more here than meets the eye in the offseason and I think it is kind of a way to promote local businesses that are involved in this event.’

Jones thanked all of the sponsors, including Steve's Pier View Restaurant that provided the hot chocolate.
