The body of a missing Onset man was found in a wooded area in Wareham on Friday, June 12, according to Police Chief John Walcek. 

Daniel Smith, 47, was last seen on Monday, June 8, at about 2 p.m. near the Onset Pier. 

Wareham Police conducted an all-out search beginning Monday night with coverage of all forest areas, parks, and other sites where Smith might visit, as well as water searches along the coast.

Walcek also activated The Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Search and Rescue Unit to assist in searching for Smith.

The initial investigation indicates that Smith’s death is not suspicious. The investigation is still ongoing by Wareham Police and State Police detectives.

Family members previously reported that Smith suffered from clinical depression.
