WAREHAM – Bertrand C. “Bert” Jones, Jr., 80, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham unexpectedly.

Born in Dighton, he was the son of the late Bertrand C. and Mary M. (McCarthy) Jones.

Bert was a longtime resident of Bourne and was a firefighter for the Town of Bourne for many years. He retired in 1995. After his retirement, he moved to the Pleasant Grove area of Sulphur Springs, Texas and worked as a courier for City National Bank in Sulphur Springs. He returned to Wareham in 2019.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Bert was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1717, DeWitt Clinton Lodge A.F. and A.M., Cawnacome Sunshine Lodge A.F. and A.M. and Sulphur Springs City Lodge A.F. and A.M.

Survivors include his siblings, Ruth Smith of Taunton, Michael Jones of Wareham, Theresa Andersen of Onset, and Sandra Fobert of Plymouth. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, the late Thomas Jones, William Jones and David Jones.
