Annual Grumpy’s 5k Harvest Race on Nov. 3

The Cranberry Educational Foundation will host it’s annul Grumpy’s 5k on Nov. 3 at the A.D. Makepeace Company headquarters in Tihonet Village. The race starts at 9 a.m.

Grumpy’s 5k travels through an A.D. Makepeace cranberry bog during harvest with participants learning about cranberries along the way. The event honors the memory of Robert “Grumpy” Conway, a longtime A.D. Makepeace Company employee and nature-lover who passed away in 2010.

Following the race, there will be a cranberry inspired buffet for participants. Cranberry-focused awards will then be presented to winners in all age categories for both men and women.

The registration fee for adults ages 19 and older is $25. The registration fee for kids ages 4 to 18 is $15.

Entries received by Friday, Oct. 19 are guaranteed a Grumpy’s 5k t-shirt.

Advanced registration and number pick-up will be on Friday, Nov. 2 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Box Mill Hall on in Tihonet Village. Registration the day of the event will run from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. in the same location.

All proceeds will benefit the Cranberry Educational Foundation’s Scholarship Fund. Students who live in cranberry growing towns are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
