CHATHAM- Ian Bedell has been sensational this season for the Gatemen and they will need him tonight against an Anglers squad who has the best record in the CCBL

The Chatham Anglers have been a dominant force the last week going 7-3 in their last 10 games. Chatham has been led by a few key contributors on offense and on the pitching staff.

Jamal O’Guinn II (USC) has been the heartbeat of the Anglers offense. O’Guinn is batting .312 with 3 home runs and 17 RBI. Kaden Polcovich (Northwest Florida State) is batting .288 with 3 home runs and 17 RBI, and Cooper Davis (Vanderbilt), fresh off a College Championship win has had a promising start in his first 2 games going 4-9.

Parker Scott (Oklahoma State) has proven to be the ace for the Anglers currently 2-0 with an ERA of 0 in 13.2 innings striking out 17 batters. Zarion Sharpe (UNCW) may be 0-2 on the year but has a 1.20 ERA in 15 innings striking out 19 batters. Kolby Kubicheck (Texas) has been a workhorse for the Anglers. Kubicheck has a 2-2 record in 20 innings of action posting a 1.35 ERA with 21 strikeouts.

The Anglers will be hungry for a win coming off a shutout loss to the Harwich Mariners. Chatham was only able to muster 3 hits in the game and that was mostly due to the opposing pitching. Connor McCullough (Kansas State) was unstoppable last night pitching 8 innings only allowing 3 hits and struck out 9 batters.

The Wareham Gatemen retook first place in the West Division last night and may be coming off their most complete performance of the season. The team was firing on all cylinders both pitching and batting. Coy Cobb (Texas) and Jeremy Williams (Nova Southeastern) combined for 6 innings of scoreless baseball.

Offensively 3 players in particular are on a nice hot streak. Dallas Beaver (South Carolina) Matt McLain (UCLA), and Matt Rudick (San Diego State) have been on fire. McLain was a home run shy of the cycle going 3-5 with 2 RBI, Beaver was 3-5 with 1 RBI, and Rudick was 3-5 with 3 RBI and 2 home runs.

The pitching has been an issue for the Gatemen all season as the team currently has the third worst team ERA (4.39). Luckily last night the pitching was great, and a similar result should be expected tonight.

On the mound for the Gatemen is Ian Bedell (Missouri). Bedell has emerged as the ace for this Gatemen squad and his numbers back it up. Bedell was one of the most dominant relief pitchers in the SEC last season and that has carried over to the CCBL. Bedell is 2-0 with a 0.91 ERA in 19.2 innings striking out 20 batters.

On the mound for the Anglers is Cole Ayers (Kentucky). Ayers is 1-0 with a 3.14 ERA in 14.1 innings with 15 strikeouts. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Chatham.
