Join the Lloyd Center for the Environment for an exciting summer outdoors!

Animal collection, habitat investigations, and creature observation, are just a few of the activities offered through the 2022 Summer Programs.

In its 41st season, the Lloyd Center's Summer Programs are designed to give motivated students an opportunity to explore different aspects of environmental science.

All sessions include field study, laboratory work, and fun!  Member prices apply to those holding a current Family (or higher level) membership.

Pre-registration is mandatory, and is first come, first served.

Lloyd Center Cancellation Policy: Requests for refunds/cancellations must be made in writing to ashley@lloydcenter.org by June 13, 2022, for all Lloyd Center Summer Programs. After June 13, 2022, if your child can no longer attend the Summer Program due to symptoms of COVID-19, a doctor’s note will be required in order to receive a refund.

Program descriptions:

Nature Explorers: 9 to 12 years old | Monday, July 11 – Friday, July 15, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Members $350   Non-members $400 | Join us on 82 acres of maritime forest and wetlands. Explore these unique habitats and learn about the plants and animals that call them home. Be ready to get wet and muddy while on the hunt for amphibians and crabs. We will seek out snakes and insects and look for evidence of the mammals that hide in the forest. Get ready for a wild adventure!

Marine Biology: 9 to 12 years old | Monday, July 25 - Friday, July 29, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Members $350   Non-members $400 | Come explore the ocean and coastal ecosystems. Discover amazing adaptations of sea creatures - large and small. Collect live animals while beach-combing. First-hand observation of creatures and marine life make learning fun!

Animal Mysteries Solved: 9 to 12 years old | Monday, August 1 – Friday, August 5, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Members $350   Non-members $400 | Have you ever wondered how geckos stick to walls or what really happens when a jellyfish stings you? We will explore some of the mind-boggling mysteries that exist all around us in nature! Come discover how everything from amphibians to invertebrates can perform these amazing feats in our local ecosystems. Get hands-on with some of these fascinating creatures!

Coastal Ecology: 9 to 12 years old | Monday, August 8 – Friday, August 12, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Members $350   Non-members $400 | Explore the coastal environment while studying the salt marsh, estuary, sandy beach, and rocky shore. Emphasis is on environmental awareness and skill development. Hands-on activities and outdoor adventures await!
