Chamber Concerts This Weekend!

May 16, 2019

Don’t miss the South Coast Chamber Music Series Season Finale concerts this weekend!

Brilliance from Bohemia and Vienna highlights the final concert of the chamber season with Mozart's joyous piano concerto K. 414 and Dvořák's sunny String Quintet Op. 77.

PROGRAM
Max Bruch: Kol Nidrei, Op. 47
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 12 in A Major, K.414
Bohuslav Martinů: Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola (Duo No. 1), H.313
Antonín Dvořák: String Quintet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 77

Bruch's heroic rhapsody Kol Nidre transcends Yom Kippur, when it is most often heard. Its Hebraic sobriety is offset by Mozart's sunny Piano Concerto K. 414, here in the composer's own version for piano and string quintet. Martinů's bracing Madrigals set the stage for Dvořák's String Quintet in G Major, where the addition of string bass creates a sumptuous Bohemian feast to fittingly close the season.

Joining Artistic Director and pianist Janice Weber for both performances are NBSO principal players Jesse Holstein, violin; EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks, violin; Anna Griffis, viola; Leo Eguchi, cello; and Reginald Lamb, bass.

Saturday, May 18, 4pm: St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, 124 Front Street, Marion

Sunday, May 19, 4pm: St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 351 Elm Street, South Dartmouth
